It’s virtually impossible to do a quick introduction on the one and only food legend, Nathalie Dupree. She is a trailblazer. She is a leader. She is an advocate and mentor for many people, especially women. Her bio is absolutely fascinating and inspiring. She’s a best-selling author of 15 cookbooks and has done more than 300 television shows for The Food Network, PBS, and The Learning Channel. She has been prominently featured in the New York Times, Washington post, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune as well as Bon Appétit, Food and Wine, Southern Living, Coastal Living, Better Homes and Garden, Redbook, Cosmopolitan, and Good Housekeeping. She has appeared on The Today Show, Good Morning America, The Morning Show, and CNN Good Morning, among others. Her best selling book, “New Southern Cooking” started an entire culinary movement. She has won James Beard Awards for “Southern Memories” and “Comfortable Entertaining” as well as her most recent book, “Nathalie Dupree’s Mastering the Art of Southern Cooking.” She was the Founding Chairman of the Charleston Food and Wine Festival, a founder of Southern Foodways, the Atlanta and Charleston Chapters of Les Dames d’ Escoffier, the American Institute of Wine and Food and the International Association of Culinary Professionals, of which she was two time President. She was awarded the prestigious “Grand Dame” of Les Dames d’Escoffier, an international organization of top women in the culinary field, as well as 2013 Woman of the Year by a prestigious organization of French Chefs in America. What we loved most about Nathalie is even though we were talking with a celebrity, we felt at home in her presence. She’s warm, inviting, kind, witty, and a patient teacher in every way. What a treat to get this time with her. This is a bit longer of an interview than what we normally do, but we had no interest in cutting her off for the sake of time… some things are meant to be savored. We hope you enjoy this episode!
